The Hungry Ghost Festival is celebrated on a grand scale in Penang. Offerings of food, incense and paper effigies placed across the city. Temporary stages for Chinese opera appear in neighbourhoods. Clan Jetties and Georgetown glow with candles and joss sticks. Ghost Month peak: late August 2026.
